Our History

Rivne State Humanities University (RSHU) is a multidisciplinary higher education institution that trains specialists in pedagogical, natural sciences, cultural and artistic, and economic fields. The history of RSHU begins with the opening of the Rivne Teacher Training Institute in 1940, the Rivne Institute of Culture in 1979, and their merger in 1998 into Rivne State Humanities University, which allows the institution to combine many years of experience with the innovative potential of modern student learning technologies..

The educational process is provided by 9 faculties (pedagogical, psychological and natural sciences, historical and sociological, foreign philology, Ukrainian philology, mathematics and computer science, physical and technological, documentary communications and management, artistic and pedagogical), the Institute of Arts, the Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy, and the Institute of Pre-University Training and Postgraduate Education. The structure of the university includes the Sarny Pedagogical College, Dubno College, Dubno College of Culture and Arts, and Rivne Music College..

Educational and scientific activities are carried out by 45 doctors of science and professors, 358 candidates of science and associate professors, among whom 32 are honoured workers in the fields of education, culture, art, science and technology, physical culture and sports..

At the university, there are research schools aimed at solving current problems in science and practice, and scientific professional publications are issued (including those indexed in the international scientometric database "Index Copernicus") in the fields of history, psychology, pedagogy, art studies, cultural studies, and philosophy.

The powerful information and educational centre of RSHU is the scientific library, which has a collection of over half a million printed publications and a collection of rare books, and actively implements the latest information technologies for serving readers.

In order to ensure an appropriate level of professional training for future specialists: consulting centres and research laboratories have been established; certificate programmes are being implemented; international connections with European educational institutions are being strengthened; the academic exchange programme "Erasmus+" is being carried out.

Students have access to 4 academic buildings, 7 dormitories, a café, sports and fitness halls, assembly halls, choreography classes, and medical points. Students have the opportunity to be active through participation in self-governance, scientific clubs, interest-based clubs, charitable and volunteer organisations, sports sections, and professional sports teams.
